Amal El Nakhala
Artist Amal El Nakhala expresses her feelings through art. She escaped the ongoing war in Gaza with her family to Cairo, with her art relaying her journey and thoughts, artworks impacted by the artist's environment, exploring themes of identity, home and memory.
Powerful works with the pen guiding her reflections, documenting the war in Gaza, conveying and questioning the effects of war through her series 'Not a Home', putting forth and portraying the everyday that conflict causes.
During the war, Amal El Nakhala created 'A Normal Conversation in a Normal Household' a sketch diary of three short comics alongside several standalone illustrations. Published by Maamoul Press, all proceeds from the zine supported Amal to rebuild her life.
In September 2024, Amal El Nakhala will be exhibiting with Katharina Maria Raab at MENART Fair dedicated this year to women artist.
